Overview

Dropbox is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design and develop user-friendly experiences for their platform. You'll work with technologies like JavaScript, React, and Node.js while mentoring junior engineers. This position requires strong experience in web application development.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and scaling web applications — you've taken ownership of key product areas and delivered end-to-end solutions that combine front-end user interfaces with robust back-end systems. Your expertise in both front-end and back-end development allows you to create seamless, scalable, and user-friendly experiences that users depend on.

You possess strong experience in front-end technologies such as JavaScript, React, and Angular, as well as back-end technologies like Node.js and Python — you understand how to balance technical requirements with business goals and can lead problem-solving initiatives effectively. Your familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB enables you to design scalable architectures that support impactful product enhancements.

You are a natural mentor who enjoys contributing to team development and growth — you thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to share your knowledge with junior engineers. You understand the importance of maintaining service reliability and are willing to participate in on-call rotations to ensure that systems remain operational.

Desirable

Experience with AI-enabled products is a plus, as Dropbox is on a mission to expedite the creation and implementation of such functionalities. You are comfortable with rapid prototyping and reliable deployment of AI-augmented features, which aligns with the company's current focus.

What you'll do

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Dropbox, you will play a leadership role in designing scalable architectures and driving impactful product enhancements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver ongoing business impact through ownership of product capabilities or technical systems. Your role will involve mentoring junior engineers and contributing to their professional growth, ensuring that the team develops the skills necessary to succeed.

You will lead problem-solving initiatives and drive tradeoffs to achieve optimal solutions, balancing technical requirements with business goals. Your contributions will directly influence the user experience, as you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end solutions that enhance the functionality and usability of Dropbox's products.

Participating in on-call rotations will be part of your responsibilities, as many teams at Dropbox run services that require engineers to be available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. This ensures that the systems remain reliable and that any issues are addressed promptly.

What we offer

Dropbox offers a competitive compensation package, with salaries ranging from $202,700 to $274,300 USD depending on the zone. You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive environment that values collaboration and innovation. The company encourages you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as they believe in the potential of diverse teams to build better products.

You will be part of a mission-driven organization focused on creating user-friendly experiences and implementing cutting-edge technology. The culture at Dropbox fosters growth and development, providing you with the resources and support needed to excel in your role.
