Affirm is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build scalable systems and data pipelines for financial reporting. You'll work closely with Product and Accounting teams using Java and Spring. This role requires strong experience in backend engineering.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable systems and data pipelines. You understand the intricacies of financial reporting and have a strong grasp of the technologies that support it. Your expertise in Java and Spring allows you to design robust systems that deliver accurate data efficiently. You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering with product management and accounting teams to ensure that technical solutions align with business needs. You are proactive in identifying issues and advocating for solutions, demonstrating leadership in navigating ambiguity and supporting your peers.
Experience with SQL and data management practices is a plus, as is familiarity with financial systems and reporting standards. You are comfortable working in a remote setting and can effectively communicate with cross-functional teams. A background in finance or accounting can enhance your contributions to the team.
In this role, you will own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through complex challenges to achieve successful outcomes. You will collaborate closely with product management, design, and analytics teams, participating in ideation sessions and articulating technical constraints. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing systems that ensure the integrity and precision of financial data. You will also create and monitor metrics to support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts, ensuring that systems remain reliable and efficient.
You will foster a culture of quality within your team, encouraging best practices in coding and system design. Your role will involve mentoring junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and navigate their own challenges. You will also participate in on-call efforts to maintain system availability, demonstrating your commitment to operational excellence.
