Overview

Anyscale is seeking a Docs Engineering Lead to oversee the documentation systems and tooling for their products, including the open-source Ray project. You'll leverage your engineering skills to enhance the documentation experience for developers and data scientists.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in engineering with a focus on documentation systems — your experience includes architecting and building platforms that facilitate clear and high-quality technical content. You understand the importance of information architecture and have a keen eye for contributor experience, ensuring that technical writers and engineers can produce content efficiently.

You possess excellent collaboration skills, working closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and feedback — your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders sets you apart. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for creating user-friendly documentation that enhances the developer experience.

Your technical expertise includes proficiency in tools like Git and Markdown, which you use to manage documentation workflows and version control — you are comfortable with programming languages such as Python, which aids in automating documentation processes. You have a track record of improving documentation practices and are always looking for ways to innovate and streamline workflows.

You thrive in a lead role, where you can influence the direction of documentation strategies and mentor others in best practices — your leadership style encourages collaboration and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. You are excited about the opportunity to work with a team that is democratizing distributed computing and making it accessible to developers of all skill levels.

Desirable

Experience with open-source projects is a plus, as is familiarity with machine learning concepts — you understand the challenges developers face when working with complex systems and can empathize with their needs. A background in technical writing or content strategy would also be beneficial, as it complements your engineering skills and enhances your ability to guide documentation efforts.

What you'll do

As the Docs Engineering Lead at Anyscale, you will own the end-to-end systems that power the documentation experience for both the Anyscale product and the Ray open-source project — your role will involve architecting, building, and operating the platform that enables seamless content creation and delivery. You will collaborate with technical writers, engineers, and contributors to ensure that documentation is clear, accurate, and high-quality.

You will lead initiatives to improve the documentation process, implementing tools and workflows that enhance contributor experience — your focus will be on creating a scalable documentation ecosystem that supports the needs of developers and data scientists. You will also be responsible for maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports documentation, ensuring that it is reliable and efficient.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to influence documentation strategies and practices across the organization — your insights will help shape how Anyscale communicates its products and capabilities to users. You will work closely with product teams to gather feedback and iterate on documentation based on user needs and experiences.

What we offer

Anyscale provides a collaborative and inclusive work environment where you can make a significant impact — you will be part of a mission-driven team that is passionate about democratizing distributed computing. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. Join us in building the best place to run Ray and help developers scale their machine learning applications effectively.
