Team Lead Backend Engineer (Data/API team)

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building production systems that handle large volumes of data. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have a track record of debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your expertise in Java is complemented by a deep understanding of REST API design and implementation, allowing you to create efficient and scalable services. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy mentoring junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and confidence. You are passionate about setting high standards for engineering excellence and are eager to take ownership of significant projects that impact the company's success.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP would be a plus, as would familiarity with data processing frameworks. What you'll do

As the Backend Tech Lead on the Data API team, your primary mission will be to architect and scale the core API infrastructure that powers mission-critical workflows for Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success teams. You will lead the engineering efforts behind services that serve over 60 TB of GTM data monthly, ensuring that the APIs you develop deliver deep buyer insights to both internal applications and customer-facing dashboards. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements and translate them into technical specifications, ensuring that the solutions you build meet the needs of the business.

You will also be responsible for establishing best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within your team. Your role will involve conducting code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and mentoring team members to enhance their technical skills. You will work on optimizing existing services for performance and reliability, addressing any issues that arise in production environments promptly and effectively.
