Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer for their Starship Launch Systems team to design and build cryogenic propellant processing systems. You'll work with AutoCAD and MATLAB to support critical rocket launches. This role requires a strong background in chemical engineering and fluid systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field and possess experience in designing and operating fluid systems, particularly in cryogenic applications. Your background includes performing thermofluid analysis and managing interdisciplinary engineering projects from concept through design, build, and activation. You are highly motivated and thrive in a fast-paced environment, eager to contribute to groundbreaking technologies that support rocket launches.

You have hands-on experience with cryogenic systems and are familiar with the fabrication and installation processes of fluid systems. Your ability to collaborate with operational teams ensures that system designs meet the rigorous demands of rocket launches and testing. You are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of balance of plant calculations for cryogenic systems.

Desirable

Experience with air separation, liquefaction, and liquefied natural gas production is a plus. Familiarity with state-of-the-art technologies in cryogenic rocket propellant production will set you apart. You are comfortable working on-site at launch and test facilities and are ready to tackle the challenges that come with developing innovative solutions in the aerospace industry.

What you'll do

As a Chemical Process Engineer, you will design, build, and operate systems that support critical rocket launches and testing. Your responsibilities will include performing thermofluid analysis and managing the fabrication and installation of fluid systems at launch and test sites. You will help SpaceX develop cutting-edge technologies for cryogenic rocket propellant production, focusing on oxygen and methane.

You will be involved in designing, building, and commissioning air separation and liquefaction systems, as well as other cryogenic process equipment. Your role will require you to manage interdisciplinary engineering projects, ensuring that all aspects of the design and build process are executed efficiently and effectively. You will work closely with operational teams to ensure that system designs align with operational needs and safety standards.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting projects in the industry. You will have the chance to contribute to the future of space exploration and be part of a mission-driven organization that values innovation and collaboration. Join us in our quest to make life multi-planetary.
