Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer focused on Build Reliability for the Starship project. You'll develop and enforce manufacturing procedures while maximizing quality through efficient production. This role requires expertise in fabrication methods and tooling design.

Who you are

You have a strong background in manufacturing engineering, with experience in developing and implementing manufacturing processes that ensure high quality and efficiency. Your expertise in fabrication methods and tooling design allows you to create innovative solutions that enhance production capabilities. You are skilled in data gathering and visualization, enabling you to analyze processes and drive continuous improvement. You thrive in interdisciplinary teams, collaborating effectively with various stakeholders to achieve common goals. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality ensure that all processes meet stringent inspection requirements. You are adaptable and open to learning, always seeking ways to improve existing processes and reduce risks associated with build-induced vehicle issues.

Desirable

Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes or similar industries would be a plus. Familiarity with advanced inspection techniques and non-destructive testing (NDE) methods can set you apart. A background in mechanical or aerospace engineering is highly desirable, as is proficiency in using AutoCAD or similar design software.

What you'll do

As a Build Reliability Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for developing and enforcing manufacturing, integration, and assembly processes from the ground up. You will design and implement tooling for various testing and assembly tasks, ensuring that all work centers maintain consistency in their operations. Your role will involve defining and documenting inspection requirements and procedures, as well as creating training materials for production and inspection processes. You will collaborate closely with quality assurance teams to contain non-conforming hardware and ensure that all products meet the highest standards of quality. Additionally, you will analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that enhance overall efficiency and reliability. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the Starship project, as you work to maximize production capabilities while minimizing risks.
