You'll work with technologies like Java and Python to manage data streams for the world's largest satellite constellation. This role requires a collaborative mindset and problem-solving skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an experienced software engineer with a strong background in application development, particularly in data management and processing. You have proficiency in programming languages such as Java and Python, and you understand the importance of building scalable systems that can handle large volumes of data. You thrive in collaborative environments, treating your teammates with fairness and respect, and you are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a mission that aims to enable human life on Mars.

You have a solid understanding of database technologies and data ingestion techniques, which allows you to design systems that efficiently manage concurrent data streams from various sources. Your problem-solving skills are complemented by your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring that the applications you develop meet the needs of engineers across the company.

You are passionate about technology and its potential to impact the future, and you are eager to work on innovative projects that push the boundaries of what is possible in aerospace. You are adaptable and open to learning, recognizing that aerospace experience is not a prerequisite for success in this role.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure would be a plus, as would familiarity with data visualization tools. You may also have experience in agile development methodologies, which can enhance your ability to contribute to fast-paced projects.

What you'll do

As an Application Software Engineer, Data at SpaceX, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining mission-critical applications that support the production and flight of launch vehicles. You will work closely with engineers from various teams to create systems that ingest and store data from numerous always-on assets, ensuring that the data is accessible and usable for decision-making processes.

You will design and implement software solutions that facilitate the rapid build and reuse of Starship, contributing to the development of next-generation manufacturing software for high-throughput factories. Your work will also involve creating public-facing systems that allow customers to join the Starlink network globally, enhancing the user experience and expanding the reach of SpaceX's services.

Collaboration will be key in this role, as you will engage with engineers throughout the company to update systems in response to crewed launches, Starship flights, and changes to the Starlink network. You will be expected to participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and ensure that the applications you develop are robust and scalable.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is at the forefront of aerospace innovation, working on projects that have the potential to change the future of humanity. We offer a dynamic work environment where your contributions will be valued and recognized. You will have opportunities for professional growth and development, as well as the chance to work with some of the brightest minds in the industry.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement. We believe that diverse teams build better products, and we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
