Google is hiring a Data Center Technician to support Global Server Operations. You'll be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and server software. This role requires experience in troubleshooting and working with mechanical or electrical systems.
You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are physically capable of lifting and moving 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are adaptable and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays. You have at least 1 year of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols. You are a collaborative team player who can effectively execute verbal and written instructions.
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware such as servers and their components, as well as server software like Google's Linux cluster. You will be responsible for performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment. You will collaborate with your team to overcome issues and adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment. You will also disassemble equipment that has reached its end-of-life and perform preventative maintenance based on identified issues. Your role will require you to manage security issues in accordance with Google security standards and ensure that all tasks are completed with limited guidance.
