Overview

Google is hiring a Data Center Technician for their Fort Wayne location to deploy and maintain advanced Data Center Server and Network Infrastructure. This role requires experience with mechanical or electrical systems and troubleshooting technical equipment.

Job Description

Who you are

You have experience with assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are physically capable of lifting and moving 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are available to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required. You hold a certification in the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program and have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. You have at least 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You have experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role, such as systems administration or help desk technician. You have worked within a data center or network operation center environment and can collaborate and partner with teams to overcome challenges and adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Technician, you will deploy and maintain Google's advanced Data Center Server and Network Infrastructure. You will participate in or lead local project teams on larger installations and develop project security issues in accordance with Google security standards. You will disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, working in a team setting. You will repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance. You will monitor and maintain the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. You will collaborate with other technicians and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues, contributing to the overall efficiency of the data center operations. You will also be responsible for documenting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Google's operational standards.
