Job Description

Amazon Digital Advertising develops solutions to deliver on Amazon’s own marketing objectives that educate and delight our customers. We partner with Amazon’s top brands like Alexa, Prime Video, Kindle, Audible to deliver their marketing objectives via Amazon’s Ad Tech products. We are looking for a Senior Economist with expertise in applied econometrics and causal machine learning to drive the core science for our measurement products and enable it to measure the impact of marketing spends at Amazon’s scale.

Key job responsibilities
1. Define and frame complex marketing measurement problems through economic principles and causal inference frameworks to identify key business questions and appropriate analytical approaches
2. Build a deep understanding of the marketing measurement domain and utilize it to enable principled, scientific solutions for our measurement needs.
3. Transform complex data into strategic insights by building econometric models using Amazon's world-class data tools
4. Collaborate with Applied Scientists, Engineers and business partners to understand the business problem, articulate the underlying science problem statement, propose and review potential econometric approaches, prototype code, and deep dive on analyses to help inform decision making.
5. Partner with engineering teams to transform your prototype models into scalable deployment that can operate on large scale datasets and be deployed on production.
6. Contribute to the research community, by working with scientists across Amazon, as well as collaborating with academic researchers and publishing papers (www.aboutamazon.com/research).
7. Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise
8. Work directly with senior management to solve key business problems while utilizing methods at the frontier of economics
- PhD in economics or equivalent
- Experience in econometrics (e.g., program evaluation, forecasting, time series, panel data, or high dimensional problems), economic theory, and quantitative methods- Experience in analytics and applied economics
- Experience in developing and executing an analytic vision to solve business-relevant problems
- Experience in building statistical models using R, Python, STATA, or a related software
- Experience in synthesizing and communicating insights and recommendations to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.
- Experience in collaborating with engineering teams to put models in production to answer specific business questions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
