Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The mission of Project Kuiper’s Government Solutions (KGS) is to provide high speed, low latency, and secure broadband access for United States and global government customers using Kuiper’s satellite network.

We have an immediate opening for an International Trade Lead to support the Kuiper Government Solutions team focusing on U.S. Government customers, such as NASA, DoD, and National Security, in addition to global government customers. As the International Trade Lead, you will drive end-to-end management of global trade operations through strategic oversight of import compliance requirements, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) optimization.

You will work in a collaborative, analytical, and fast-paced environment and must be comfortable interacting with cross-functional teams. The candidate must think big while diving deep, build and earn trust with internal and external customers and be passionate about delivering high-quality results. The ideal candidate will have experience with custom operations, classifications, licensing, and SAP GTS.

Key job responsibilities
• Develop and implement customs compliance policies, procedures and work instructions
• Manage customs import compliance requirements including harmonized system (HS) classification codes, country of origin, valuation, duties, permits, and records
• Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure accurate entry filings, monitor entry status, resolve customs holds, and respond to CBP inquiries
• Configure and maintain SAP GTS, including optimization of automated trade processes, license management, product classification, and customs management
• Manage usage of export authorizations including quantities, values, conditions, and expiration dates
• Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure efficiency, compliance rates, and identify process improvements and cost savings
• Provide trade compliance training to cross-functional teams and key stakeholders
• Design and execute risk-based trade compliance audits and assessments, identify compliance gaps, coordinate with stakeholders to implement corrective actions and minimize risk

Security clearance: This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, international trade, supply chain, or related field; or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant work experience
• 7 + years experience in import/export operations
• 5 + years of hands-on experience managing EAR/ITAR licensing requirements, including classifications, license determinations, and authorization management
• 5 + years of practical experience working with import requirements, custom regulations, and international shipping procedures
• 3 + years of demonstrated experience utilizing global trade management systems for classification, license management, and compliance documentation• 10 + years experience in aerospace and defense trade compliance
• Previous experience as an Empowered Official (EO)
• License Customs Broker (LCB)
• Experience with satellite related Commerce Control List (CCL) and US Munitions List (USML) categories including 5 – Telecommunications and Information Security, 9 – Aerospace and Propulsion, IV - Launch Vehicles, and XV - Spacecraft
• Demonstrated experience implementing or optimizing SAP GTS, including direct involvement with system configuration, workflow design, compliance rule-sets, and user acceptance testing
• A curious self-starter with a proven track record of diving into unknown territory, learning new concepts, and pushing your comfort zone

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $107,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
