Job Description

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

 Job Summary:

Your role will be to enable studio teams to explore creative development with emerging technologies and pipeline new workflows that lead to high-quality content. You'll achieve this by developing foundational systems that make Computer Graphics technologies accessible. You’ll create services that make environments and configurations available across an array of interactive and remotely executed use cases. Additionally, you’ll collaborate with application developers to empower creators with interfaces that provide them with direct access to custom tools and infrastructure used to bring their creative vision to life.  You will work to shape the future of technology for Netflix CG-supported productions.

About Computer Graphics Platform and Pipelines:

The CG Platform and Pipelines team creates foundational elements for CG Content Production. They build components for data creation, movement, and tracking within production pipelines, utilizing Netflix systems and making them accessible to studio developers. This team partners with Netflix Studio teams, focusing on VFX and other CG creation methods, to build a platform that can be configured across similar use cases. Beyond the platform, the team delivers pipelines directly to production environments, enabling workflows that extend beyond the local studios’ needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Architect systems to define and store shareable environments for remote and cloud-based creative workflows

  • Encapsulate and deliver emerging creative workflows to artists in a comfortable interface that abstracts away technical complexity

  • Build backend services leveraging Java SpringBoot to power user applications as well as app-to-app interactions

  • Design database structures and asset schemas to capture new workflow-specific data types

  • Partner with infrastructure teams to establish hardware requirements for emerging and rapidly changing business needs that offer low-latency interactions to a global set of users

  • Share ideas openly and "farm for dissent" in an inclusive environment

What You’ll Need:

  • Creativity, you face every problem in its unique context rather than trying to make a familiar solution work because it’s comfortable

  • Forward-Thinking, you stay up to date with the latest developments and quickly understand emerging workflows to deliver scalable and extendable solutions, avoiding short-sighted or moment-specific approaches

  • Versatility, you’re a software engineer who enjoys working with new technologies

  • Curiosity, you’re a technical pioneer who is self-motivated to seek out new knowledge and capabilities and empower your teammates by sharing what you've learned

  • Flexibility, when you identify a gap to be filled, you step up to meet the need and appreciate stretching outside of your comfort zone for the chance to grow

  • Problem-Solving, you proactively identify issues and own their resolution

  • Passion, you care deeply about content creation and storytelling

  • Strong Values, you have the desire to live the Netflix culture and champion the culture of our team

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $170,000 - $720,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off. Full-time salaried employees are immediately entitled to flexible time off. See more detail about our Benefits here.

Netflix is a unique culture and environment.  Learn more here.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
