Job Description

Are you looking to innovate within a global organization that’s redefining the customer experience? The Global Engineering Insights & Software Tools (GEIST) team is a key player in shaping the growth and scalability of Amazon’s building network. GEIST drives disruptive solutions that support a wide range of engineering services across Amazon’s portfolio. We are searching for a motivated System Development Engineer to join our Engineering Services Business Intelligence team. This role will focus on building scalable software tools and global web applications to enhance engineering and business operations.

If you’re passionate about automation, observability, and creating resilient systems, this is a unique opportunity to impact the end-to-end development process of critical tools that empower Amazon’s Global Engineering Services (GES) to establish production support. Expecting the candidate to have a strong understanding of system design, with experience implementing automated solutions across various applications.Thrive in fast-paced environments and embrace the opportunity to work with innovative technologies and diverse customer needs. Experience in driving improvements, developing scalable systems, and enhancing customer experiences through automation and innovation.

Key job responsibilities
Production Support & Incident Management:
• Ensure system reliability, manage incidents, troubleshoot issues, and resolve them swiftly to minimize downtime and impact.
System Monitoring & Observability:
• Implement comprehensive monitoring systems, track performance metrics, and address anomalies proactively.
• Infrastructure Automation & Optimization:
• Automate infrastructure processes, manage continuous deployment, and ensure efficient resource allocation to support large-scale systems.
• Security Compliance:
• Work with security teams to ensure systems meet compliance standards, addressing vulnerabilities promptly.
Chaos Engineering & Resiliency:
• Implement chaos engineering practices in non-production environments to test system resilience and enhance system robustness.
• Tool Development & Data Insights:
• Develop internal tools for automation, data analysis, reporting, and publishing insights that drive business decisions.
• Collaboration & Communication:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (Development, QA, Operations) to ensure smooth production workflows and deliver software improvements.
Customer Insights & Engagement:
• Create systems to aggregate, analyze, and publish customer feedback, providing actionable insights to engineering and product teams.
• Team Roadmap & Strategy:
• Contribute to the strategic roadmap by identifying, prioritizing, and executing projects that deliver high impact for the team and stakeholders.
Managing Ambiguity:
• Understand complex technologies and diverse customer use cases to generate solutions that enhance customer experiences.

Enjoy a culture that values ownership, innovation, and impact.- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- 2+ years of DevOps or SysOps in a large-scale software development environment experience
- Bachelor's Degree- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
