Job Description

The Games Platform team is on a mission to delight members by empowering Game Developers to do the best work of their lives and bridge Netflix’s unique superpowers and technologies to the vibrant, complex world of Gaming. As a member of the Games Platform Quality team, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating and improving the quality of Games Platform features. We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer who will play a pivotal role in evaluating and improving the quality of Games platform to deliver best-in-class experiences for both players and game developers alike.

Who You Are

  • A highly technical test engineer with a deep understanding of the games industry testing and tooling. 

  • Adapt quickly to new information, switch context when needed and constantly drive to resolution.

  • Experienced across a variety of technologies with a focus on TypeScript, Javascript, React and familiarity with Mobile WebView / JS Bridge.

  • Familiarity with mobile engineering: Android (Kotlin, Java) or iOS (Swift UI & Objective-C) experience

  • Expert at multi-device testing, building controller test framework and tools to verify different components of the complex architecture 

  • A product testing expert, skilled at systematically identifying issues, root cause analysis, and partnering with developers to drive resolution

  • A self-starter who proactively questions the status quo and drives process improvements to enhance efficiency in testing, debugging, and release cycles.

  • Exceptional collaborator with a proven ability to bridge communication between cross-functional teams, driving alignment between manual QA and core engineering.

What you will do

  • Define and champion the overall long-term testing strategy and quality roadmap for Games Platform.

  • Drive design and implementation of test infrastructure, automation tests and the tools needed to support automation

  • Debug issues with a variety of tools and identify root causes by closely partnering with several internal teams that contribute to the E2E flow of the product

  • Improve release predictability and confidence by optimizing continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines

  • Manually test new features and integration points that are difficult to automate and collaborate with manual QA vendors to execute exploratory tests.

  • Gather and analyze operational data to gain insights on how to improve test stability, performance, and developer engagement.

Bonus Skills

  • Familiar with working in game engines, such as Unreal Engine, Unity3D, and Defold.

  • Experience working with cloud gaming platforms and TV testing.

  • Comfortable working across multiple gaming platforms, including web, mobile, and console.

  • Advocate thoughtful collaboration, take pride in your work and enjoy taking full ownership of projects from conception to production.

A few more things about us:

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $170,000 - $720,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
