Senior Backend Engineer, Data (m,f,x)

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in data management and governance. You understand the importance of data organization, security, and compliance, and have a proven track record of developing scalable systems that handle sensitive information. Your experience includes designing and implementing microservices, ensuring they are robust and maintainable.

You possess deep expertise in Java, having built high-performance applications that prioritize data privacy and security. You are familiar with DevOps practices, enabling you to take ownership of the entire development lifecycle from architecture to deployment. Your ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams is complemented by your strong communication skills, allowing you to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

You are passionate about data privacy and understand the regulatory landscape surrounding data handling. You have experience with data encryption services and are knowledgeable about best practices for data deletion and lineage tracking. You thrive in environments that value diverse experiences and are eager to contribute to a team that aims to make HelloFresh better.

Desirable

What you'll do

In this role, you will take ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of the microservices and products you develop. You will work closely with the Data Management and Governance team to ensure that all data processes align with organizational and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing data privacy tooling that ensures customer data is handled securely and in compliance with regulations.

You will develop engaging user experiences iteratively, focusing on accessibility, scalability, and maintainability. Your work will involve collaborating with other engineers and data experts to create solutions that enhance data accessibility while maintaining strict security standards. You will also be responsible for tracking data lineage and maintaining a catalog for easy discovery, which is crucial for compliance and operational efficiency.

As part of a cross-functional team, you will engage in regular code reviews and contribute to the overall improvement of the team's development practices. You will utilize DevOps methodologies to streamline deployment processes and ensure that the systems you build are reliable and efficient. Your role will also involve staying updated on industry trends and best practices in data management and governance, allowing you to bring innovative ideas to the team.
