ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Audible Books Content Acquisition Team EU owns the full cycle business relationships with the authors, writers, content creators, literary agents and recognized IP brands that serve as Audible’s top global creators in the literary space. In this role, you’ll generate, negotiate, and close a high volume of new deals and deal renewals for audio original and book-based audio content with prospective and current top partners, at terms that benefit Audible customers. You’ll be responsible for acquired content, ensuring successful post-signing goes to market planning across the relevant teams at Audible and Amazon, and contribute to defining strategic development affecting Audible’s overall growth and success.

This position is open through a 24-months contract.

As an Associate Director, Audible Books Content Acquisition EU, you will...
- Initiate, develop, grow, and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential content partners, including authors, writers, content creators, agents and IP brands
- Independently manage, prioritize, and execute high volume deal flow, structuring, negotiating, and executing deals that support Audible’s content strategy and initiatives
- Leverage your expertise and judgment to lead local initiatives, determine appropriate goals, inform critical decisions, manage and set partner expectations, and design long-term solutions that constantly align your marketplace(s) with Audible's global strategy while delivering consistent local growth
- Handle complex negotiations and multi-deal partnerships at both strategic and tactical levels, owning decisions and escalations, while balancing trade-offs between short and long-term needs
- Identify and prepare projects for internal support and valuation by presenting data, preparing budgets, P&Ls, and drafting proposed deal terms
- Build relationships and represent the Audible Books team to various internal stakeholders including Editorial/Creative, Finance, BI, Marketing, PR, Content Services, Content Partnerships, and Content Creation teams
- Track and communicate deal terms within the organization and provide for first line of enforcement of deal terms if necessary
- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of all negotiated audiobook titles, from contract signature to release, ensuring seamless coordination, data sharing and continuous support to Production, Content Operations, Deal Operations, Marketing and all other relevant cross-functional teams
- Maintain strong relationships with rights holders throughout the entire process, acting as the first point of contact for onboarding, production-to-release alignment, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise with each title

- Experience in negotiating complex agreements, with a firm grasp of legal terminology, financial modeling, and underlying legal and financial reasoning
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment
- Experience effectively communicating through complex concepts and ideas in a clear and concise manner across different levels of the organization
- Business fluency in English and German
- Experience using Salesforce, Excel, PowerPoint, and company-wide data analysis and Project Management tools- Business fluency in additional European languages, particularly Italian, French, Spanish, or Portuguese, is a plus
- Ability to operate in a high-energy, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment
- Resourceful self-starter with an independent attitude and focus on excellence
- Comprehensive understanding of both traditional and digital media spaces, with a strong emphasis on the audio content industry
- Proven extensive network in the local and international book publishing industry, especially with authors and literary agencies
- Proven track record of acquiring or selling audio rights and navigating the complexities of the audio content landscape
- Passionate about storytelling, the evolution of audio, theater, music, books, and consuming audio content
- Demonstrated experience in independently leading a territory/program where your work significantly impacted long-term strategic goals and objectives
- Ability to work with cross functional teams under tight deadlines
