Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Starship Components team to develop advanced spacecraft components. You'll work with technologies like AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create innovative solutions for space technology.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, specifically in designing and developing hardware components for high-performance applications. Your expertise includes flow control devices such as valves and pumps, and you are familiar with the challenges of operating in extreme environments. You possess strong problem-solving skills and a creative mindset, allowing you to develop novel solutions that push the boundaries of space technology.

You are proficient in using design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, enabling you to create detailed models and simulations of mechanical systems. Your background includes experience with manufacturing processes, testing methodologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. You are committed to ensuring mission success and are willing to flex across various disciplines within the product life cycle.

Desirable

Experience with aerospace components or systems is a plus, as is familiarity with high-pressure and high-temperature applications. Knowledge of materials science and the ability to analyze the performance of components under extreme conditions will set you apart. You are also comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing requirements.

What you'll do

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Starship Components team, you will be responsible for developing innovative flow control devices and mechanisms that are critical to the Starship and Super Heavy systems. You will lead the design and testing of components, ensuring they meet stringent performance and reliability standards. Your role will involve collaborating with other engineers to refine designs, conduct simulations, and oversee the manufacturing process.

You will engage in hands-on testing of components, analyzing data to validate performance and identify areas for improvement.
