Job Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of over 3,000 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Kuiper team is looking for an exceptional Senior Technical Program Manager to join our team and drive operational improvements across our program. This role will engage directly with functional leaders (EHS, quality, etc.), operations managers, area managers, and associates to constantly raise the bar for processes in our warehouse spaces. This Sr. TPM will also focus technology development and integration as we introduce automation technologies into our warehouses. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about continuous improvement: you love streamlining processes and you love sharing your approach with others. You use data to identify process defects and drive improvements at scale. You enjoy launching programs from the ground up and are at your best when you are inspiring others to drive improvements in their areas every day.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
- Working across the Kuiper organization and partnering with other Amazon teams to drive improvement in the Kuiper warehouse spaces. This may include identifying pain points, developing KPIs, facilitating process improvement activities, and driving business change.
- Driving process standardization and adoption across multiple warehouse facilities, including planning, initiating and managing process changes.
- Using visual tools (value stream mapping, spaghetti diagrams, etc.) to map processes. Creating robust metrics and analyzing large data sets to enable data-driven decision-making at the executive level. Applying lean thinking and data-driven performance management to eliminate waste and drive process stability.
- Serving as a subject matter expert for Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence, sharing your knowledge with employees ranging from associates to senior leadership.

A day in the life
You engage with operations managers, area managers and associates in both existing and new facilities to identify project champions. You partner with them to develop and run process improvement efforts, ensuring process consistency across all operations. You demonstrate business acumen and skills in driving change by developing business proposals and driving implementation of recommendations through effective written and oral communication. You effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination.- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience using data and metrics to drive improvement
- Experience defining KPIs (key performance indicators), SLAs (service level agreements) or other metrics used to monitor the quality of processes
- Proven success assessing problem statements and cultivating solutions in ambiguous environments
- Expertise at organizing, documenting, and communicating results- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Master’s Degree in Operations Research, Business Management, Business Administration, or equivalent
- Lean and/or Six Sigma certification
- Prior experience working as a Lean or Operational Excellence leader, delivering business efficiencies
- Demonstrated analytical skills
- Experience in process design, including the creation of visual workflow products (e.g. value stream mapping)
- Demonstrated ability to successfully influence stakeholders without formal authority
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, with success coaching team members
- Technical proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Visual Basic for Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Experience in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Automotive, and/or Consumer Electronics industries
