Overview

Amazon is hiring an Engineering Operations Technician to maintain mission-critical technology infrastructure. You'll work with electrical and mechanical systems to ensure 99.999% uptime. This position requires hands-on troubleshooting skills and knowledge of data center operations.

Job Description

Who you are

You are an Engineering Technician with a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems — you thrive in hands-on environments and have experience troubleshooting complex equipment. Your expertise in maintaining mission-critical facilities ensures that technology infrastructure operates seamlessly, contributing to a 99.999% uptime. You understand the importance of reliability in data centers and are committed to keeping the digital world running smoothly. You have a proactive approach to problem-solving and enjoy working as part of a diverse team of engineers and specialists.

Desirable

Experience with diesel generators and fuel systems is a plus, as well as familiarity with three-phase electrical systems. You are comfortable working with various equipment, including switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, and cooling systems. Your background may include working in environments that require strict adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting the electrical and mechanical systems that support Amazon's data centers. You will work directly with stand-by diesel generators, ensuring they are operational and ready to support critical operations. Your day-to-day tasks will involve monitoring and maintaining three-phase electrical systems, including switch gear and UPSs, to ensure they function correctly. You will also be involved in the upkeep of cooling systems, such as centrifugal chillers and air handlers, which are vital for maintaining optimal operating conditions in the data center.

You will collaborate with a team of engineers to address any operational issues that arise, utilizing your technical skills to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions. Your role will also include participating in routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure all systems are running efficiently. You will be a key player in supporting AWS Infrastructure Services, contributing to the design, planning, and operation of global infrastructure that powers Amazon's cloud services.

What we offer

Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, financial, and other forms of compensation. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your contributions directly impact the reliability of our services. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Join us in keeping the cloud running and supporting the technological backbone of Amazon.
