About the role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Scrum Master to lead Agile teams in delivering high-impact, high-quality solutions. As a Scrum Master, you will act as a servant-leader and Agile coach, empowering teams to self-organize, continuously improve, and deliver value to the business. You’ll work closely with Product Owners, Product Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive Agile excellence, enhance collaboration, and eliminate obstacles to progress. 

This role is instrumental in fostering a culture of transparency, adaptability, and high performance within an Agile delivery organization. A background in healthcare is preferred but not required. 

This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Costa Rica office.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a servant-leader and coach for one or more Agile teams, guiding them in Lean-Agile principles and best practices. 
• Foster a self-organizing, cross-functional, and high-performing Agile team environment. 
• Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, estimation, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. 
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Product Owners to plan roadmap execution based on team capacity and estimates, and to identify and mitigate risks. 
• Support the Product Owner in preparing and refining the product backlog to ensure clarity and prioritization. 
• Clarify deliverables, team roles, and assignments to keep the team aligned and focused. 
• Remove impediments and shield the team from external disruptions. 
• Facilitate the documentation and continuous refinement of team agreements such as the Definition of Ready, Definition of Done, and Working Agreements. 
• Capture and publish Agile performance metrics (e.g., burndown/burnup charts, velocity, predictability) to stakeholders and leadership for transparency. 
• Facilitate the team's continuous improvement plans based on retrospective outcomes and ensure execution of improvement actions. 
• Coach, mentor, and support teams in their Scrum adoption and Agile maturity journey. 
• Lead and participate in organization-wide Agile transformation efforts and Community of Practice initiatives. 
• Engage with Product Owners, Portfolio Leads, and Project Managers to support role clarity and change management. 
• Leverage technology and Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) to improve team efficiency and visibility. 
• Promote a respectful, collaborative, and transparent team culture that values diversity of thought and continuous learning. 

 

Requirements:

• 4-6 years of experience as a Scrum Master in fast-paced, multi-team environments. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field—or equivalent experience. 
• Strong experience with Agile-Scrum methodologies, ceremonies, roles, and artifacts. 
• Experience leveraging Agile and project management tools, especially Jira 
• Demonstrated ability to coach teams in Agile values and principles to increase delivery capability. 
• Excellent facilitation, communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills. 
• Experience collaborating with product leadership on backlog and roadmap planning. 
• Familiar with modern development practices and service-oriented architecture. 
• Skilled in documenting technical/process-related issues and enabling cross-functional collaboration. 
• Demonstrated use of metrics to drive performance and visibility. 
• Strong understanding of project management fundamentals and change management principles. 
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to continuous improvement. 

Nice to have:

• Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI-ACP, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent. 
• Experience working in scaled/SAFe Agile frameworks. 
• Prior experience in healthcare, health tech, or other regulated industries. 
• Familiarity with Agile DevOps practices and continuous delivery pipelines. 
• Experience leading distributed or remote teams.
