Overview

Google is seeking a Technical Solutions Engineer to troubleshoot and advocate for customer needs in the realm of databases. You'll work with technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, and Kubernetes while leveraging your experience in systems administration and machine learning. This role requires 5+ years of experience in technical support and database management.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience. With 5 years of experience in troubleshooting and advocating for customer needs, you excel at triaging technical issues across hardware, software, applications, and processes. You possess 4 years of experience with two or more of the following: Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, and SAP. Your familiarity with Linux/Unix or other operating systems, including Kernel to Shell and client-server protocols, sets you apart. You are adept at reading and debugging code written in general-purpose coding languages such as Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, and JavaScript. Your experience extends to virtualization and orchestration frameworks, making you a versatile candidate.

You have a strong background in administering and querying data in distributed, columnar, or analytic-oriented databases, as well as distributed data processing frameworks. Your knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database administration, Google App Engine, and cloud networking solutions is extensive. You are also experienced in web or mobile app development, troubleshooting database issues, schema design, and SQL query profiling. Your understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, Routing, VPNs, VLANs, Peering, and Load Balancing, complements your system and network administrator-level knowledge of Linux/Unix or other operating systems. You possess excellent troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities, which are essential for this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will act as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud. You will understand customer issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering teams, to find ways to enhance the product and drive quality production. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing technical issues, providing solutions, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and collaboration.

You will work closely with customers to understand their technical challenges and provide tailored solutions that meet their needs. Your role will involve troubleshooting complex issues, guiding customers through the resolution process, and ensuring that they have a positive experience with Google Cloud products. You will also contribute to the development of best practices and documentation to improve the overall customer experience.
