Job Description

To help us with this, we are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our international team. The full-time position has a duration of six months entails working in an innovative work environment of excellence within the Zurich hardware technology incubation team. We are an agile and multi-disciplinary team forming part of the wider Apple Hardware Technology organization. With significant lab space, we are pursuing ground-breaking hardware development to enable future products and features that enrich the lives of our customers.

Description

As an intern, your focus will be on characterizing and optimizing materials that support next-generation hardware innovations. You will work within the materials team collaborating closely with other teams including design, process, metrology, and product development. You will learn new process capabilities, executing design of experiments (DOE), support failure mode analyses, and contribute to performance and reliability measurements. You will bring a unique blend of technical expertise within the area of process development, chemistry and/or material science. Furthermore, a strong problem-solving capability, and a collaborative mindset to help develop early-stage concepts with the vision on scalable, high-volume manufacturing solutions

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a M.S. Degree or equivalent in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field. Understanding of material synthesis, characterization techniques and implementing data-driven process improvements. Experience in programming and in data analytics such as design of experiments and root cause investigations. Ability to work hands-on and independent in the lab within a multi-disciplinary team environment Open-minded and adaptable in fast-paced, evolving environments. Creative, quick-thinking, persistent, and empathetic with a team-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge in optical, spectroscopic, and thermos-mechanical characterization techniques. Hands-on experience with material characterization equipment (e.g. SEM, FTIR, Raman, TGA, DSC, DMA) Experience surface chemistry, material interfacial properties and post-synthesis purification techniques is an advantage.
