Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. We are hiring a System Development Engineer to develop and integrate hardware and software for satellite production test applications.
This is a highly collaborative position that interfaces with Project Kuiper production, engineering, and IT infrastructure teams.
Key job responsibilities
- Test software development and integration: The System Development Engineer is responsible for developing automated testing to verify functional requirements of Project Kuiper satellites and subsystems. The SysDE is a single-threaded owner, responsible for delivering functioning test stations to production, including the configuration and deployment of both cloud-based infrastructure and on-premise equipment, while providing support for startup activities and participating in an on-call rotation for production downtime escalations.
- Process analysis and collaboration: The SysDE is responsible for learning and addressing the business needs through interaction with partner teams. The SysDE will generate requirements collaboratively, document and collect customer feedback on the design, then implement and iterate.
- Security and compliance: Produce system architecture and design documents for end-user, front line support, and security review purposes. Ensure that system integrations comply with internal IT and Security standards, with code that is well-documented and version controlled.- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes- Experience working in an Agile environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
