SpaceX is hiring a TIG Welder (Transfer Tube) to weld, assemble, and fabricate various fluid systems and components. You'll work with precision tools and read technical drawings in Hawthorne, CA.
You have at least 1 year of experience with TIG welding and a high school diploma or equivalency certificate. You are familiar with various materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel, aluminum, or copper, and have a strong understanding of welding techniques and safety protocols. You are proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings, which allows you to follow detailed work instructions effectively. You have experience operating forklifts and cranes, ensuring that you can handle heavy equipment safely and efficiently. You are detail-oriented and committed to producing high-quality work that meets specifications and passes inspections.
You have 5+ years of experience in welding, particularly in aerospace applications, and are highly proficient in tube cutting, grinding, and fabrication. Your skills include completing welds that pass visual inspections and are ready for X-ray or dye penetrant testing. You hold certifications with AWS D17.1 and D1.2, which demonstrate your commitment to industry standards and best practices.
In this role, you will be responsible for welding, assembling, and fabricating various fluid systems and subassembly components. You will use precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers to ensure accuracy in your work. You will read and interpret technical drawings to follow detailed work instructions, ensuring that all tasks are completed according to procedures and specifications. You will perform blending, filing, and shearing of sheet metal parts as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the work environment. Additionally, you will operate forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment, ensuring that safety protocols are followed at all times. You will also be expected to perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating your flexibility and commitment to the team's success.
