SpaceX is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Propulsion Simulation & Data Analysis team to develop models and conduct analysis for advanced rocket engines. You'll work with Python and C++ to enhance engine performance and safety. This role requires expertise in data analysis and simulation.
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in simulation and data analysis. Your background includes working with complex systems and developing models that inform critical engineering decisions. You are proficient in Python and C++, and you understand the intricacies of thermofluid physics as it relates to propulsion systems. You have a strong analytical mindset, allowing you to conduct thorough anomaly resolutions and engine cycle analyses. You thrive in collaborative environments, working alongside engineers to translate data into actionable insights that drive performance improvements.
Experience with rocket propulsion systems or aerospace engineering is a plus. Familiarity with machine learning techniques for data analysis would be beneficial. You are comfortable working in high-stakes environments where safety and precision are paramount.
In this role, you will maintain and improve the accuracy of the lumped-parameter thermofluid physics model of the Raptor engine. You will conduct engine cycle analysis to guide future engine design and thrust upgrades, ensuring that the systems are optimized for performance and reliability. Your responsibilities will include developing detailed simulations and conducting root cause analyses for anomaly resolutions, providing critical data-driven insights that support operational decisions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the models you develop are seamlessly integrated into the engine testing processes. Your work will directly impact the safety and effectiveness of SpaceX's missions, as you will be responsible for evaluating flight trajectories and engine performance.
