Software Engineer - Databases

Who you are

You have a solid background in software engineering, particularly in building and optimizing data pipelines. Your experience includes working with NoSQL databases, and you are comfortable with Java as your primary programming language. You understand the importance of performance improvements and reliability in data architecture, and you are eager to contribute to a team that values collaboration and mentorship. You have a knack for breaking down complex projects into manageable tasks and enjoy providing and receiving constructive feedback through code reviews. You are also committed to writing reliable code and automated tests to ensure the quality of your work.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is a plus, as is familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. If you have worked with Bazel or have experience in mentoring less experienced engineers, that would be beneficial as well.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer at Fivetran, you will be instrumental in driving the development of our NoSQL data pipeline services. Your responsibilities will include writing and delivering reliable code, along with creating automated tests to ensure the robustness of your contributions. You will break down project work into tasks with effort estimates, allowing for efficient project management and execution. You will actively participate in code reviews, providing feedback to your peers and receiving insights to improve your own coding practices. Additionally, you will create technical designs for new features and seek feedback from your team to refine your ideas. Mentoring less experienced engineers will also be a key part of your role, helping them to improve their coding skills and adhere to established coding practices.
