Instacart is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to enhance backend systems that improve the user experience in grocery delivery. You'll work with Java and backend technologies to develop robust architectures. This position requires 5+ years of experience.

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in backend development, where you've successfully built and maintained production systems that scale effectively. Your expertise in Java is complemented by a strong understanding of backend architectures, allowing you to create robust solutions that enhance user experiences. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets user needs. You are passionate about improving processes and systems, always looking for ways to optimize performance and reliability. You understand the complexities of digital shopping and are excited about the opportunity to innovate in the grocery industry. You are adaptable and open to feedback, eager to learn and grow in your role.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms and modern development practices is a plus, as is familiarity with agile methodologies. You may also have experience in enhancing content discoverability and purchase processes, which will be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead efforts to enhance backend systems that power a seamless user journey in grocery delivery. You will focus on developing robust backend architectures that support advanced recommendation systems and improve content discoverability. Your work will directly impact the user experience, ensuring that customers can easily find and purchase the products they love. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define and implement features that enhance the overall shopping experience. You will also be responsible for code reviews, ensuring that best practices are followed and that the codebase remains maintainable and scalable. As part of a Flex First team, you will have the flexibility to choose where you work best, whether from home or in an office setting. You will participate in regular in-person events to foster community and collaboration among team members.

What we offer

Instacart offers a competitive salary range for this position, with base pay ranging from CAN $165,000 to $214,000 CAD, depending on experience and skills. You will also be eligible for a new hire equity grant and annual refresh grants, providing you with a stake in the company's success.
