Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building and maintaining complex distributed systems. Your expertise in Java allows you to develop high-performance applications that can scale effectively. You understand the intricacies of workflow orchestration and have a strong grasp of the Temporal framework, which is essential for this role.

You are a collaborative team player who enjoys mentoring others and contributing to a positive engineering culture. Your experience includes leading projects that require innovative solutions to challenging technical problems, and you thrive in environments where you can influence architectural decisions.

You have a passion for improving system reliability and performance, and you are always looking for ways to enhance the developer experience. Your background includes working closely with open-source communities, contributing to projects that benefit the broader ecosystem.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture is a plus. Familiarity with AI initiatives and how they can be integrated into workflow systems will set you apart. You are comfortable navigating the complexities of high-scale systems and have a proactive approach to problem-solving.

What you'll do

As a Staff Engineer on the Workflow Engine Team, you will design and implement a robust workflow execution infrastructure on top of Temporal. Your role will involve leading the evolution of the Atlas platform to meet Datadog's growing scale and reliability needs, ensuring it can handle millions of actions per minute.

You will collaborate with other senior engineers and product teams to tackle complex distributed systems challenges. Your contributions will directly impact how Datadog builds and operates critical workflows that power its products and services.

In this high-impact role, you will mentor teammates, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a culture of continuous improvement. You will also engage with the Temporal community, contributing upstream improvements that enhance both Atlas and the broader ecosystem.
