Data Infrastructure Engineer

Who you are

You have a strong background in data engineering, with at least 3-5 years of experience building and maintaining data infrastructure. You are proficient in Python and SQL, and you understand how to design and implement data pipelines that are efficient and scalable. Your experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, allows you to leverage cloud services to enhance data processing capabilities. You are familiar with containerization technologies like Docker, which you use to ensure consistency across development and production environments.

You have worked with distributed systems and understand the challenges that come with handling large volumes of data. Your knowledge of tools like Apache Kafka and Elasticsearch enables you to build robust data ingestion and search solutions. You are also experienced with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, which you use to manage complex data workflows and ensure timely data processing.

You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful data solutions. You have strong communication skills, allowing you to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement within data processes and are always looking for ways to optimize performance.

Desirable

Experience with machine learning frameworks is a plus, as you may work on projects that involve predictive modeling and data analysis. Familiarity with data visualization tools can also be beneficial, as you may need to present data insights to various teams within the organization.

What you'll do

As a Data Infrastructure Engineer at Intercom, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the data platform that supports various business and product-focused projects. You will collaborate with product teams to understand their data needs and design solutions that empower them to create their own end-to-end data workflows. This includes everything from data ingestion to transformation and analysis.

You will work on enhancing the existing data infrastructure to handle increasing data volumes and complexity. This involves optimizing data pipelines for performance and reliability, ensuring that data is accessible and usable for analytics and reporting. You will also be involved in evaluating new technologies and tools that can improve data processing capabilities.

In addition to building data solutions, you will play a key role in monitoring and maintaining the health of the data systems. This includes troubleshooting issues, implementing best practices for data governance, and ensuring compliance with data security standards. You will also contribute to documentation and training materials to help other teams leverage the data platform effectively.
