Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Tool & Die Specialist for their 2nd shift operations in Bastrop, TX. You'll be responsible for the maintenance and repair of injection molding and die-casting tools. This role requires excellent tool and die skills and experience in similar environments.

Who you are

You have a proven track record as a Tool and Die Specialist, demonstrating excellent skills in the maintenance, repair, and modification of molds for plastic injection and die casting. Your experience in similar environments has equipped you with the ability to work efficiently and safely, ensuring that tools are disassembled and assembled correctly. You thrive in cross-functional teams, bridging gaps between production and maintenance operations, and you are motivated to contribute to the success of the team.

You possess strong handwork skills, allowing you to perform repairs on part details, parting lines, lifters, slides, polished cavities, texture, venting, and spotting. Your proactive approach helps in identifying and implementing systems that consistently reduce manufacturing defects and productivity concerns. You are also comfortable supporting design engineering to evaluate the feasibility of tooling changes and assisting process engineering with part processing.

Desirable

Experience with advanced tooling techniques and a background in aerospace or automotive industries would be beneficial. Familiarity with injection molding and die-casting processes will set you apart as a candidate. You are detail-oriented and committed to maintaining high standards of quality in your work.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and modification of molds for plastic injection and die casting of various sizes. You will ensure the correct disassembly and assembly of molds in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Your responsibilities will include repairing and fabricating cores, cavities, and various other components, as well as performing handwork repairs to part details and ensuring that all tools are functioning optimally.

You will support production and maintenance with troubleshooting, creating and maintaining mold spare parts lists to ensure that all necessary components are readily available. Your role will also involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to bridge gaps between production and maintenance operations, ensuring that all processes run smoothly.

You will identify and implement proactive systems to achieve consistent reductions in manufacturing defects and productivity concerns. Additionally, you will support design engineering to evaluate the feasibility and implementation of tooling changes to accommodate part changes, assisting process engineering with part processing as needed.
