SpaceX is hiring a Senior Propulsion Engineer for the Raptor Development Operations team. You'll guide the development of future Raptor engine versions and ensure system compatibility. This role requires extensive knowledge of propulsion systems and engineering principles.
You have a strong background in propulsion engineering, with a focus on developing and testing advanced rocket engines. Your experience includes defining requirements and ensuring system compatibility, which is critical for the success of the Raptor engine. You possess excellent planning and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with cross-functional teams. You are detail-oriented and have a deep understanding of the complexities involved in engine development, including test planning and anomaly resolution. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about contributing to the future of space exploration.
Experience with full-flow staged combustion engines or similar propulsion systems is a plus. Familiarity with the integration of hardware and software systems in aerospace applications will enhance your ability to succeed in this role. A background in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics will also be beneficial as you work on the Raptor engine's development.
As a Senior Propulsion Engineer, you will take ownership of one or more systems on the Raptor engine, guiding its development from design through testing and flight. You will establish hardware and operational requirements, collaborating with other engineers to ensure that interfacing systems meet these requirements. Your role will involve detailed test planning and data review, as well as providing on-console test support. You will be responsible for leading the engine development cycle, which includes anomaly resolution and ensuring compatibility with the Starship vehicle. You will work closely with teams across various disciplines, including hardware, fluids, operations, structures, and software, to ensure the successful development of the Raptor engine.
