Amazon is seeking a Hardware Development Engineer for their Quantum Engineering team to develop processes for superconducting qubit fabrication. You'll work with microfabrication techniques and AWS technologies. This role requires experience in cleanroom environments and semiconductor device fabrication.
You have experience as a Hardware Development Engineer with a strong background in microfabrication — you've worked in cleanroom environments and understand the intricacies of process integration for superconducting devices, MEMS, and semiconductor solid-state devices. Your expertise includes thin film deposition, wet and dry etch processes, and photolithography techniques, both direct-write and masked-based. You possess strong engineering principles and are resourceful, with a knack for data science that enhances your engineering capabilities. Your organization and communication skills are essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Experience with superconducting qubits and a solid understanding of MEMS and semiconductor device fabrication will set you apart. Familiarity with advanced lithography processes and the ability to work on second shifts are also advantageous.
In this role, you will develop lithography processes for superconducting qubits, utilizing both direct-write maskless and conventional masked-based lithography techniques. You will leverage your process integration skills to enhance device fabrication processes, ensuring high-quality outcomes for superconducting qubits, MEMS, and semiconductor devices. Collaboration with the photolithography team will be key as you work to develop new processes and improve existing ones, implementing proper controls to sustain quality and efficiency. You will also be responsible for documenting your processes and findings, contributing to the overall knowledge base of the team.
Amazon provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes dental, vision, and prescription coverage, along with life insurance options and mental health support. You will have access to a 401(k) matching program, paid time off, and parental leave. The salary for this position ranges from $126,300 to $164,800 annually, reflecting the importance of your role in advancing quantum computing technology at AWS. Join us in our mission to develop a fault-tolerant quantum computer and be part of a team that is at the forefront of technological innovation.
