Google is seeking a Robotics Automation Lead to drive the development of innovative robotics solutions for data center operations. You'll leverage your expertise in mechatronics and robotics systems to lead cross-functional teams. This role requires 8+ years of experience in robotics product development.
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 8 years of professional experience in mechatronics engineering and robotics product development — you've successfully shipped full-stack robotics systems and understand the intricacies of the robotics industry. Your experience includes turning R&D into deployed, real-world systems, showcasing your ability to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications.
Your expertise extends to robotic control, planning, kinematics, and mechatronic systems — you have a deep understanding of the overall process for developing robotics products, including identifying issues and considerations for delivering a successful robotics product. You are familiar with sensor integration and calibration for robotics applications, including vision systems, LiDAR, and inertial measurement units, which are crucial for creating effective robotic solutions.
In addition to your technical skills, you have experience in project management or leadership roles — you've led cross-functional teams and driven projects to successful completion, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the development lifecycle. Your background includes working with collaborative robot systems and understanding human-robot interaction design considerations, which are essential for creating user-friendly robotics applications.
You are well-versed in embedded systems, including RTOS, microcontrollers, and FPGA, and have experience with sensor fusion and actuator control. Your familiarity with motion control systems and robotics programming languages, such as the Robot Operating System, positions you as a key player in the development of cutting-edge robotics technologies.
While not required, familiarity with advanced robotics technologies and methodologies will set you apart — you are encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as curiosity and a growth mindset are valued in our team.
As the Robotics Automation Lead, you will lead multiple robotics engineering disciplines to develop innovative and industry-leading solutions that transform operations inside our data centers. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including solution vendors and Contract Manufacturers, throughout the development lifecycle, providing technical support and guidance to address inquiries and resolve issues as they arise.
Your role will involve documenting design decisions, specifications, test procedures, and results, maintaining clear and organized records to facilitate knowledge sharing and project continuity. You will be responsible for driving the development of robotics technologies and solutions, ensuring that they meet the operational needs of our data centers while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
You will also engage in cross-functional collaboration, working closely with engineering, product management, and operations teams to ensure that the robotics solutions you develop are aligned with business objectives and user needs. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the robotics team.
At Google, we offer a dynamic work environment where you can make a significant impact on the future of robotics in data center operations. You will have access to cutting-edge technologies and resources, enabling you to push the boundaries of what is possible in robotics automation. We value diversity and encourage you to bring your unique perspective to our team.
We provide competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. Join us in our mission to implement robotics technologies that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in our operations, and be part of a team that is shaping the future of technology.
