Flex is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the implementation of platforms and APIs for their Risk Platform team. You'll work with Java and Spring to enhance risk management features. This role requires 5+ years of experience in backend engineering.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have navigated complex distributed systems issues. Your deep expertise in Java and Spring allows you to ship high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You understand the importance of risk management in a FinTech environment and are passionate about creating secure and efficient systems. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the solutions you build meet both technical and business needs. You are proactive in identifying potential risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the integrity of the systems you develop. You enjoy mentoring junior engineers and sharing your knowledge to help elevate the team's overall skill set.
Experience with machine learning and data analytics is a plus, as you will be involved in projects that leverage these technologies to enhance risk assessment capabilities. Familiarity with event-driven architectures and real-time data processing will also be beneficial in this role.
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Flex, you will spearhead the implementation of platforms and APIs crucial for supporting business features within the risk management domain. You will work on the core rules engine, which is an end-to-end solution for the enterprise decision management lifecycle, including business rule management, analytics, process management, and machine learning. You will also be responsible for event data stream ingestion, which supports near real-time fraud rules setup. Your role will involve collaborating with product managers and other engineers to define requirements and translate them into technical specifications. You will conduct code reviews, ensuring that best practices are followed and that the codebase remains maintainable and scalable. Additionally, you will monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise, contributing to the overall reliability of the Flex platform.
