SpaceX is hiring a Senior Tool Design Engineer to develop CAD designs for high-pressure die casting tooling. You'll collaborate with mechanical and process engineers to support the manufacturing of Starlink product components. This role requires expertise in CAD design and tooling processes.
You have 5+ years of experience in tool design engineering, specifically in high-pressure die casting. Your background includes developing CAD designs from concept through production, ensuring that tooling meets manufacturing requirements. You are proficient in AutoCAD and have a strong understanding of tooling fabrication processes. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with product design, simulation, and process engineering teams to establish tooling requirements. Your attention to detail ensures that all aspects of the tooling design, including split lines, slides, and cooling systems, are meticulously planned and executed.
Experience with advanced manufacturing methods and commissioning equipment is a plus. Familiarity with materials engineering and the specific challenges of aerospace applications will set you apart. You are comfortable providing feedback to product design teams and have a knack for problem-solving in complex engineering scenarios.
As a Senior Tool Design Engineer at SpaceX, you will lead the development of CAD designs for new die cast tooling, guiding projects from initial concept through to production readiness.
