Job Description

Who you are

You have extensive experience in engineering management, particularly in tooling and manufacturing processes — you've successfully led teams in designing and implementing complex systems that enhance production efficiency. Your background in aerospace or a related field gives you a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities in rocket manufacturing.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to solve intricate engineering problems — your ability to communicate effectively with designers, engineers, and production staff ensures that projects move forward smoothly and efficiently. You are passionate about innovation and are eager to contribute to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of technology.

Your leadership style is characterized by autonomy and empowerment — you believe in fostering a culture where team members feel ownership over their work and are encouraged to take initiative. You have a track record of mentoring and developing talent, helping your team members grow in their careers while achieving organizational goals.

You are detail-oriented and possess a strong technical background, enabling you to understand the intricacies of tooling design and manufacturing — your analytical skills allow you to assess processes critically and implement improvements that lead to better outcomes. You are committed to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in all engineering practices.

Desirable

Experience in aerospace manufacturing or a related industry is a plus — familiarity with rocket production processes will give you an edge in understanding the unique challenges faced by the team. Knowledge of automation technologies and their application in manufacturing will also be beneficial.

What you'll do

As the Senior Manager of Tooling Engineering, you will lead a team responsible for designing and producing tools that are essential for the manufacturing of the Terran R rocket — your role will involve overseeing the entire tooling lifecycle, from concept through to production and implementation. You will collaborate with design engineers to ensure that tooling meets the specifications required for high-quality production.

You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that enhance tooling efficiency and effectiveness — this includes evaluating current processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions that drive productivity. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the tooling team.

You will work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure that tooling is integrated seamlessly into production workflows — your ability to communicate and collaborate across departments will be key to achieving operational excellence. You will also be involved in project management, ensuring that tooling projects are delivered on time and within budget.

In addition to technical responsibilities, you will play a vital role in shaping the culture of the tooling engineering team — you will mentor team members, provide guidance on best practices, and promote a collaborative environment where creativity and technical rigor are valued. Your leadership will help define the future of tooling at Relativity Space.

What we offer

At Relativity, you will be part of a pioneering team that is redefining aerospace manufacturing — you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that have a significant impact on the future of space exploration. We offer a competitive salary range of $192,000—$213,000 USD, along with comprehensive benefits that support your well-being and professional growth.

You will enjoy a dynamic work environment that encourages innovation and creativity — we believe in empowering our employees to take ownership of their work and contribute to meaningful projects. Join us at Relativity Space and be part of a mission that is shaping the future of space travel.
