Senior Software Engineer

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have war stories from debugging complex distributed systems issues. You possess deep expertise in Java and Spring — you've shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests and have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You are resourceful and passionate about building products that deliver real-time financial flexibility for users living paycheck to paycheck. You thrive in cross-functional environments, collaborating with various teams to drive the implementation of new features.

Desirable

Experience with cloud services like AWS or Azure is a plus, as is familiarity with microservices architecture. You have a strong understanding of RESTful API design and are comfortable with database technologies such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. You are eager to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Earnin, you will design and implement features robust enough for our rapidly expanding scale. You will drive the implementation of new features by breaking complex problems into manageable tasks and collaborating with product managers and designers to ensure alignment with user needs. You will participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers while also learning from their insights. You will monitor and optimize the performance of backend services, ensuring they meet the demands of our growing user base. You will also contribute to the technical documentation of systems and processes, helping to maintain a high standard of quality across the engineering team.
