Site Reliability Engineer (Senior or Staff), Infrastructure Security

Who you are

You have 7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or infrastructure engineering, with a strong focus on security. Your background includes hands-on technical work and mentoring junior engineers, allowing you to lead by example while fostering a collaborative team environment. You are well-versed in cloud security practices and have a deep understanding of the nuances involved in securing cloud-based infrastructures. Your experience includes designing and implementing security solutions across various cloud platforms, ensuring that security measures are both effective and efficient.

You possess strong skills in automation and monitoring, enabling you to build solutions that provide real-time security insights and alerts. Your familiarity with cloud-native security tools and platforms allows you to evaluate and implement the best solutions for endpoint security and identity management. You understand the importance of maintaining a robust security posture and are committed to continuous improvement in security practices.

Desirable

Experience with security compliance frameworks and standards is a plus, as is familiarity with incident response and threat modeling. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a focus on security best practices. What you'll do

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer on the InfraSec team at MongoDB, you will lead the design and deployment of security solutions for our cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and GCP. Your responsibilities will include implementing network and compute security measures, identity management, and cloud security posture management (CSPM). You will work closely with other engineering teams to ensure that our infrastructure adheres to the highest security standards, collaborating to build essential security infrastructure and implement controls that reinforce our platform's security posture.

You will be responsible for building automated solutions for real-time security monitoring, logging, and alerting in cloud environments. This will involve leveraging native cloud services and third-party tools for runtime security monitoring and anomaly detection. Additionally, you will evaluate, implement, and manage cloud-native security tools and platforms for endpoint security and identity management, ensuring that our security measures are both effective and scalable.

Your role will also include mentoring a small team of SREs, guiding them in their technical development and fostering a culture of security awareness within the team. You will be expected to stay hands-on with technical challenges, tackling the complexities of implementing large-scale security solutions while ensuring that best practices are followed.
