Overview

Apple is hiring a Software Development Engineer to work on post-Silicon hardware system validation for next-generation Mac systems. You'll utilize your data analytic skills and apply statistical modeling and ML techniques to identify hardware behaviors. This role requires experience in data analysis and machine learning.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in data analysis and machine learning, with experience in analyzing large-scale hardware telemetry and applying statistical modeling techniques. Your expertise in Python and SQL allows you to develop feature extraction pipelines tailored to silicon behavior, and you are skilled at creating clear visualizations to support hardware debug and performance analysis. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for identifying anomalies and patterns in complex datasets, which is crucial for ensuring the reliability of hardware systems.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to drive insights and improvements in hardware performance. Your ability to automate workflows and discover root causes through statistical correlations makes you a valuable asset to any engineering team. You are committed to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in data science and hardware validation.

Desirable

Experience with predictive modeling and building models that estimate performance and reliability risks is a plus. Familiarity with hardware validation processes and post-Silicon testing methodologies will enhance your contributions to the team. You are also encouraged to bring any additional skills in data visualization tools or programming languages that can further support your role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be a key contributor to the Hardware Validation Engineering team, focusing on the post-Silicon validation of new Mac systems. You will analyze telemetry data from various hardware components, including power rails and thermal sensors, to identify performance issues and potential failures. Your work will involve applying machine learning techniques to detect hardware degradation patterns and emerging failure signatures, ensuring that issues are caught early in the hardware lifecycle.

You will develop and implement feature extraction pipelines that correlate hardware behaviors with performance metrics, enabling the team to make informed decisions about hardware design and validation. Your ability to create high-signal visualizations will support hardware debug efforts and enhance the team's understanding of system performance.

Additionally, you will automate root-cause discovery workflows, leveraging your analytical skills to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Collaborating with other engineers, you will contribute to the overall success of the hardware validation efforts, ensuring that Apple continues to deliver high-quality products to its customers.

What we offer

Apple offers a dynamic work environment where innovation and collaboration are at the forefront. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the development of next-generation Mac systems. The company values diversity and inclusion, fostering a culture where all employees can thrive and make a meaningful impact. Competitive compensation and benefits packages are provided, along with opportunities for professional growth and development within the organization.
