Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Tooling Engineer to develop and implement tooling and manufacturing processes for the Starlink project. You'll work with materials engineering and focus on tooling material selection and qualification. This role requires a proven track record in consumer electronics product development.

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in tooling engineering, specifically in plastic injection molding, and have a strong background in consumer electronics product development. Your expertise includes tooling material selection and resin qualification, and you have successfully collaborated with both domestic and Asian suppliers. You possess a logical and disciplined approach to problem-solving, always challenging the status quo and exploring emerging technologies. You are adept at driving alignment between design, material, and process selection, ensuring seamless integration into the overall manufacturing process.

You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable working directly with cross-functional teams. Your strong communication skills enable you to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You are passionate about innovation and are committed to delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget. You understand the importance of scalability in manufacturing processes and are always looking for ways to optimize efficiency.

Desirable

Experience with high-volume production processes and a deep understanding of the challenges associated with scaling manufacturing operations. Familiarity with the latest advancements in tooling technologies and materials is a plus. You have a proactive mindset and are always seeking opportunities for continuous improvement in your work.

What you'll do

As a Senior Tooling Engineer at SpaceX, you will be responsible for the development, qualification, and implementation of tooling and manufacturing process technologies for the Starlink project. You will work closely with the materials engineering group to ensure that all tooling solutions meet the required specifications and performance standards. Your role will involve evaluating and selecting the appropriate tooling technologies to deliver scalable solutions at the right cost.
