SpaceX is seeking a Network Engineer for the Starshield project to manage and expand network infrastructure supporting national security missions. You'll work with technologies like Cisco and Linux to ensure network performance and security. This role requires experience in network design and monitoring.
You have a strong background in network engineering with experience in managing and expanding network infrastructures — you've successfully overseen network deployments and interconnections, ensuring reliability and performance. Your expertise in network security is critical, as you understand the importance of safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining secure communications.
You are proficient in using Cisco technologies and have a solid understanding of Linux systems — your technical skills allow you to optimize network performance and troubleshoot issues effectively. You are familiar with network monitoring tools and can analyze system performance metrics to drive improvements.
You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can propose and implement continual improvements to enhance network capabilities — your analytical mindset helps you identify areas for optimization and growth. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
Experience with Top Secret datacenters is a plus, as is familiarity with government security protocols — you understand the unique challenges and requirements of working in national security contexts. A background in designing secure systems and in-space mesh networks would be advantageous.
As a Network Engineer for the Starshield project, you will be responsible for the operation, build, and deployment of the Starshield service provider network — your work will directly support critical national security missions. You will manage and expand network interconnections, ensuring that all points of presence (POPs) are optimized for performance and reliability.
You will monitor network performance and security, using system performance metrics to inform your decisions — your role will involve capacity planning and implementing improvements based on data-driven insights. You will collaborate with other engineers to design secure systems that guarantee access to space, contributing to the development of next-gen communication and sensing software.
Your responsibilities will also include proposing and implementing continual improvements to add more capabilities and customers to the network — you will play a key role in shaping the future of secure communications for government use. You will be expected to stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in network engineering to ensure that Starshield remains at the forefront of innovation.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team focused on enabling human life on Mars — your contributions will have a direct impact on national security efforts and the future of space exploration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development in a dynamic and challenging environment.
