Your Mission 🫵

As we scale, retention has become one of the most important growth levers in the business. We’re looking for a Retention Marketer who can turn users into repeat buyers through smart segmentation, lifecycle flows, and high-impact offers.

This is not a basic “email marketer” role. This is a full-stack lifecycle strategist who owns the user journey from install through first purchase to becoming a loyal customer. You will own the end-to-end retention engine: email, SMS, notifications, offers, segmentation, and cohort-based experimentation. Your job is simple: bring users back, get them to buy again, and keep them coming back.

What You'll Do 👷

0–3 Months: Foundation + Fast Wins

  • Build & launch in app retention notification message flows

  • Create clear frameworks & funnels to increase first time buyer conversion rate

  • Segment users & understand at what are clear buying points

  • Own reporting (retention, user cohorts, category insights)

3+ Months: Scale + Retention Ownership

  • Automate all flows and work with the product team to implement new features

  • Own the retention roadmap

  • Audit and rebuild the entire retention funnel, from first session through first purchase to repeat purchase.

  • Build a multi-touch onboarding framework tailored to user type (auction users vs buyers vs browsers).

  • Improve activation journeys to reduce drop-off between install, follow sellers, streams, purchase.

What You’ll Do 👇

Lifecycle & CRM

  • Build and optimise email flows across onboarding, reactivation, education, and loyalty.

  • Create high-converting SMS sequences that drive urgency and repeat purchase.
    Own all CRM tools, automations, and lifecycle journeys.

Notifications & Messaging

  • Continuously split-test notification copy, timing, and segmentation.

  • Plan retention moments around drops, live events, category pushes, and platform-wide offers.

In-App Retention Offers

  • Create and manage in-app incentives (offers, rewards, vouchers, credits).

  • Own the retention marketing budget and ensure strong ROI.

  • Test offer structures by user type, behaviour, and category.

Cohort & Behaviour Analysis

  • Identify user cohorts (e.g., sneaker buyers, Y2K shoppers, auction users, high AOV buyers, inactive users).

  • Run targeted tests across messaging, targeting, and offers per cohort.

  • Analyse user behaviour across categories, sellers, price points, and events to improve activation and repeat purchase.

Data, Reporting & Experimentation

  • Build dashboards and reports for DAU/WAU/MAU, reactivation, and repeat purchase metrics.

  • Run ongoing experiments to improve activation, engagement, and RPR.
    Collaborate with product, supply, marketing, and creators to influence user behaviour and retention.

Who You Are 📋

  • 2+ years of experience in retention, lifecycle marketing, or CRM (marketplace or e-commerce ideal).

  • Deep knowledge of email, SMS, CRM tools, segmentation, and flows.

  • Strong copywriter with the ability to craft persuasive retention messaging.

  • Analytical thinker who understands funnel drop-off, cohort decay, and behavioural segmentation.

  • Comfortable working fast, running experiments, and iterating weekly.

  • Obsessed with user psychology, incentives, and what makes people come back.
    Nice to have

  • Experience with in-app offers, rewards, or gamification systems.
