Tanium is seeking a Senior Software Engineer focused on platform development to build and maintain high-performance services. You'll work with C++, AWS, and Azure in a remote capacity from Canada. This role requires 7+ years of experience.
You have 7+ years of industry experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on platform development. Your background includes advanced knowledge of C++, and you have a proven track record of designing and building high-performance, secure, scalable, and maintainable backend services and APIs. You are familiar with public cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure, and you understand cryptographic primitives, TLS, and PKI. Your experience also includes HTTP API design and development, and you are well-versed in modern software engineering development and automation tools like Git and Jenkins.
You thrive in agile environments and are comfortable iterating on product ideas based on customer feedback. You demonstrate sound judgment in balancing rapid development with the need for quality and maintainability. You are a team player who values collaboration and communication, ensuring that your work aligns with the broader goals of the organization. You are eager to contribute to a customer engagement model that prioritizes user needs and feedback throughout the development process.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered. Experience with additional programming languages or frameworks is a plus, as is familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
As a Senior Software Engineer at Tanium, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the company's servers and client applications. You will work alongside a highly agile development team, focusing on creating best-of-breed services that power Tanium's products. Your role will involve designing, developing, testing, and deploying new product ideas from the ground up, while collaborating closely with product management to gather feedback and input.
You will engage in a customer-centric development process, ensuring that the products you help create are designed the right way from the beginning. This will involve iterating on features based on user feedback and working to enhance the overall user experience. You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of code quality and performance, ensuring that the services you develop are secure, scalable, and maintainable.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the overall growth of the engineering team. You will participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and help foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Your contributions will directly impact the success of Tanium's products and the satisfaction of its customers.
Tanium offers a competitive salary range of C$200,000 to C$220,000 for this full-time position, with the actual salary adjusted based on various factors including location, education, skills, training, and experience.
