Job Description
Who you are
You have extensive experience as a Data Scientist, ideally with a focus on analyzing user engagement and traffic patterns. Your background includes proficiency in Python and SQL, enabling you to manipulate and analyze large datasets effectively. You are comfortable using Jupyter notebooks for data analysis and visualization, and you have a strong understanding of statistical methods and data interpretation. You thrive in collaborative environments and can communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for using data to drive decision-making and improve user experiences.

What you'll do
In this role, you will support Wikimedia's research initiative by conducting analyses that explore how users engage with Wikimedia projects. You will produce descriptive analyses of traffic patterns and visibility trends, helping to identify key indicators of traffic stability over time. Your work will involve assessing how different traffic sources relate to user engagement, including the likelihood of users exploring additional pages or contributing content. You will also assist in analyzing natural experiments that arise from changes in visibility, studying their impacts on editing activity and content quality. Your deliverables will include cleaned datasets, summary tables, and detailed reports that communicate your findings effectively to the team.
