Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Propulsion Engineer for the Raptor Development Operations team. You'll guide the development of future Raptor engine versions and ensure system compatibility. This role requires extensive knowledge of propulsion systems and engineering principles.

Who you are

You have a strong background in propulsion engineering with a focus on system-level processes and operations. Your experience includes defining requirements, developing operations, and verifying capabilities for complex systems. You possess excellent planning and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with cross-functional teams. You have a detailed understanding of the Raptor engine and its integration with the Starship vehicle, allowing you to lead the engine development cycle.

You thrive in a collaborative environment and can navigate the complexities of hardware, fluids, operations, structures, and software. Your technical depth and ability to resolve anomalies make you a key player in ensuring the overall functionality of propulsion systems. You are committed to the mission of advancing human life on Mars and are excited about the challenges that come with developing cutting-edge technologies.

Desirable

Experience with full-flow staged combustion engines or similar propulsion systems would be a plus. Familiarity with test planning and data review processes is also beneficial. A background in aerospace engineering or related fields will enhance your ability to contribute to the team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Propulsion Engineer, you will take ownership of one or more systems on the Raptor engine, guiding its development from design through testing and flight. You will establish hardware and operational requirements, collaborating with other engineers to ensure that interfacing systems meet these requirements. Your role will involve detailed test planning, on-console test support, and anomaly resolution, ensuring that the engine performs optimally.

You will lead the engine development cycle, which includes defining requirements and verifying capabilities. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the integration of various systems and ensuring compatibility with the vehicle. You will work closely with teams across Raptor and Starship, fostering collaboration and communication to achieve project goals.
