Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead projects in tool and die machining for Starlink. You'll manage the development of manufacturing processes for plastic injection molds and die cast tools. This role requires expertise in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, specifically in tool and die machining. Your background includes managing technical projects and developing manufacturing processes for complex components. You possess a strong understanding of plastic injection molding and high-pressure die casting techniques, and you are comfortable making technical decisions that influence project outcomes. You are open-minded and challenge traditional manufacturing methods, always seeking innovative solutions to improve efficiency and quality.

You are proficient in using design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, allowing you to create detailed designs and specifications for tooling and manufacturing processes. Your analytical skills enable you to evaluate emerging technologies and select the best solutions for production needs. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.

Desirable

Experience in the aerospace or automotive industries is a plus, as is familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies. You have a track record of implementing process improvements that enhance productivity and reduce costs. Your ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders ensures that everyone is aligned on project goals and timelines.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead projects focused on the development of manufacturing technologies for Starlink hardware. You will be responsible for managing the qualification of equipment and tooling necessary for producing high-quality plastic injection molds and die cast tools. Your expertise will guide the team in selecting appropriate manufacturing techniques and materials, ensuring that all processes meet SpaceX's rigorous standards.
