Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in data science, particularly in advanced risk modeling and machine learning. Your expertise includes building and deploying sophisticated models that solve complex business problems, especially in the healthcare domain. You are proficient in Python and R, and have a strong understanding of machine learning methodologies, including deep learning and natural language processing. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with large, complex datasets to derive actionable insights. You are comfortable with feature engineering and data analysis, and you have a keen eye for detail when it comes to model validation and performance metrics. You are passionate about using data to drive decision-making and improve outcomes for members.
Desirable
Experience with healthcare datasets is a plus, as is familiarity with risk adjustment methodologies. You may also have experience with modern ML platforms and tools that facilitate model deployment and monitoring. A background in statistics or a related field would enhance your ability to analyze data effectively and communicate findings to stakeholders.
What you'll do
In this role, you will conduct in-depth data analysis and advanced feature engineering using large healthcare datasets to create robust predictors. You will design, develop, and validate advanced machine learning and AI models, including regression/classification, deep learning, and NLP techniques. Your work will directly impact Oscar's risk adjustment strategies, helping to improve the accuracy of predictions and enhance member services. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data engineers and product managers, to ensure that your models are effectively integrated into Oscar's technology platform. You will also be responsible for monitoring model performance and iterating on your designs based on feedback and new data. Your contributions will help shape the future of health insurance at Oscar, making it more responsive to the needs of its members.
What we offer
Oscar provides a competitive salary range of $158,400 to $207,900 per year, along with comprehensive employee benefits, including participation in an unlimited vacation program and company equity grants. You will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, with three days in the New York office and flexibility for remote work.
