Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician specializing in Mechanical Engineering to manage and maintain critical systems in data centers. You'll leverage your HVAC and mechanical systems expertise in Nong Yai, Thailand.
You have at least 5 years of experience in Mechanical/HVAC within industrial or commercial environments — you've developed a strong understanding of mechanical systems and their applications in mission-critical facilities like data centers. Your educational background includes an Associate's degree or equivalent practical experience, and you possess trade school certification or other certified training in a related technical field. You are fluent in both English and Thai, enabling you to effectively communicate with clients and contractors in the region.
Your experience includes maintenance of mechanical and cooling distribution systems, and you are familiar with the operation of HVAC systems, chillers, air handling units, and pumps. You understand the importance of safety and ergonomics in your work, and you are capable of handling physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment as needed. You thrive in environments that require flexibility, as you are willing to work non-standard hours and participate in shift rotations.
You have a solid grasp of troubleshooting techniques and are skilled in using standard hand tools, digital metering, and calibration equipment. Your knowledge extends to meters, devices, and sensors used in data center environments, allowing you to effectively monitor and maintain critical systems. You are proactive in assessing the working order of systems and ensuring their uptime, contributing to the overall efficiency of the data center operations.
Experience in mission-critical facility environments such as hospitals or power plants is a plus. You are familiar with the startup, commissioning, and integration of new mechanical equipment and systems into existing infrastructure. Your ability to communicate effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades on data center systems enhances your collaborative efforts in maintaining operational excellence.
In this role, you will manage the uptime and maintenance of various systems within the data center, including water pumps, treatment systems, and HVAC controls. You will operate, monitor, and maintain equipment, responding to any abnormal conditions that arise. Your responsibilities will include conducting tours of the systems to assess their functionality and ensuring compliance with safety and ergonomic guidelines.
You will support the startup and commissioning of new mechanical systems, integrating them into the existing facilities infrastructure. Your role will require you to participate in material handling tasks, ensuring that all equipment is handled safely and efficiently. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of system performance and maintenance activities, contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the data center.
Collaboration with other teams will be essential, as you will work closely with engineers and contractors to ensure that all systems are functioning optimally. You will play a key role in troubleshooting issues as they arise, utilizing your knowledge of mechanical systems to identify and resolve problems quickly.
