Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on UX Manager to lead a team of talented designers crafting thoughtful merchant-facing experiences within Amazon's Buy with Prime team. In this role, you will own the design of critical user journeys across merchant-facing tools, enabling businesses to easily and efficiently integrate Buy with Prime into their online stores. You will collaborate closely with the Senior UX Manager to implement the design vision, set goals for your area of ownership, and partner with product and engineering leaders to deliver exceptional merchant experiences.

To be successful in this role, you must be an empathetic leader who excels at coaching and mentoring designers while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex design challenges. You should have strong experience in solving complex UX problems, working through ambiguity, and building scalable design solutions.

Our team consists of UX Designers, Visual Designers, Researchers, and Program Managers collaborating to deliver innovative merchant experiences. As a UX Manager, you will lead a team of individual contributors while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical design work. You will help define and implement the end-to-end customer experience vision and ensure its delivery across your team.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of UX designers while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex design work
- Drive design excellence through application of usability principles and data-driven decisions
- Partner with product and engineering teams to develop shared vision and roadmap
- Define and improve design patterns, standards, and processes; help drive their adoption
- Build and communicate merchant empathy across cross-functional teams
- Navigate ambiguity and create structure for your team
- Deliver solutions for complex design and technical problems where product strategy may not be defined
- Drive operational efficiency and create mechanisms to measure impact
- Contribute to recruiting and building diverse, high-performing teams

A day in the life
- Collaborate with user researchers, product managers, and engineers to drive UX activities
- Discover business challenges and end-user needs
- Facilitate design ideation, prioritization and validation workshops
- Create design assets such as user personas, customer journey maps, workflow models and wire-frames
- Help product manager prioritize high-value use cases
- Validate and refine UX using customer feedback
- Mentor junior designers inside and outside your team
- Educate cross-functional product teams on human-centered design

- Minimum 3 year experience leading teams of 3-5 direct reports
- Portfolio demonstrating complex UX solutions and systematic design thinking
- Experience developing end-to-end user experiences from concept to launch- 10+ years of design experience
- Experience presenting to and advising senior product and engineering leaders
- Experience leading remote/distributed teams
- Experience designing enterprise SaaS applications or B2B products
- Experience designing with and designing for AI

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $225,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
