Staff+ Product Security Engineer

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in product security engineering, with a strong focus on integrating security throughout the software development lifecycle. Your expertise in security best practices allows you to effectively train and share knowledge with engineering and product teams, ensuring that security is a priority in all aspects of development. You are skilled in conducting architecture analysis and threat modeling, and you understand how to implement secure defaults and security tooling to protect sensitive features and infrastructure.

You are proactive in exploring innovative solutions that enable business growth while maintaining security. You believe in a collaborative approach, working closely with engineering leaders to define and execute on security goals and processes. Your experience includes managing bug bounty programs and triaging security bugs from various sources, ensuring that vulnerabilities are addressed promptly and effectively.

Desirable

Familiarity with cloud security practices and tools is a plus, as is experience in a fast-paced startup environment. You are comfortable working with cross-functional teams and have a track record of successfully communicating security needs to non-technical stakeholders.

What you'll do

In this role, you will facilitate the integration of security into Verkada's applications throughout the software development lifecycle. You will evangelize software security best practices through training and information sharing, ensuring that all team members are equipped to prioritize security in their work. You will partner closely with engineering and product teams to improve the security of Verkada’s products, exceeding customer expectations while enabling business objectives.

You will set up security tooling and establish secure defaults to ensure adherence to software security best practices. Your responsibilities will include performing architecture analysis, threat modeling, and technical design reviews of sensitive features and infrastructure. You will also create and operate a bug bounty program, collaborating with the CISO to ensure that security vulnerabilities are identified and resolved efficiently.

Your role will involve triaging and recommending solutions for security bugs identified through tools, third-party assessments, and bug bounties. You will work collaboratively with other engineering leaders to define, communicate, and execute on security goals and priorities, contributing to a culture of security awareness and proactive risk management.
